About The Spa at Graduate Athens

The Spa at Graduate Athens is a full service spa inside Hotel Abacus (formerly Graduate Athens) at 295 East Dougherty Street in downtown Athens, GA. The spa offers a wide variety of treatments including massage therapy in multiple modalities such as Swedish, Hot Stone, Therapeutic, and Sports massage, body exfoliations and wraps, facials, and nail care services. The hotel setting provides additional amenities that stand alone spas cannot match, including a seasonal saltwater pool, a 24 hour fitness center, and the lobby coffee bar at Iron Works Coffee. The Foundry Bar and Mill restaurant serves innovative Southern fare with live music, creating the possibility of combining a spa visit with dinner or drinks without leaving the building. The downtown location means guests can walk to Clayton Street restaurants and bars afterward. With 18 reviews at 4.3 stars, clients praise the quality of the massage therapists and the convenient downtown Athens, GA setting. The spa is open to both hotel guests and Athens residents, making it a viable option for locals looking for a downtown spa experience. For visitors staying at the hotel, the spa adds a welcome layer of relaxation to a game day weekend or Athens getaway. The combination of professional spa services inside a boutique hotel in the heart of downtown creates an experience that is about more than just the treatment itself.

Very nice place but had interesting decor to say the least. I definitely didn’t like the cartoon faces staring at me in the bathroom....BUT the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The shower wasn’t set up very good cuz the floor would get soaking wet after. Overall, I’d stay there again.

My experience with Jeannie was very unpleasant from the minute I booked my appointment. I overlooked it that day, because I realize she may have been having a hectic day; however, on the day of my appointment she was rude and unwelcoming which ruined my overall experience. She attempted to charge me an additional "weekend" rate which was never discussed at the time of my booking. I expressed my displeasure with my visit and she offered to give me 15% off at the next visit. I won't need the discount because I will never visit here again! My massage therapist, on the other hand, was phenomenal. Sorry I don't remember his name; my thoughts were clouded after my rude encounter with Jeannie.

My family and I had a hard time finding the location because we were not given adequate directions. When we arrived, Jeannie at the front desk was very rude towards us and made snide remarks about our being late. When we explained what happened, she gave us a look of disgust as if we should have already known where the place was located. Having been greeted with such disrespect, ruined my overall experience. Even though my massage was good, I couldn’t fully relax because of how disappointed I was by the service.
